Cornish, NH | Portraits at Saint-Gaudens
As a celebration and keepsake of her time living in the Upper Valley, I worked with Juana to create portraits inspired by the beautiful, local landscape for her to treasure and carry along on her journey.
We scheduled a session before she moves, trading the bucolic New Hampshire hills for the cobblestones and city vibes of Boston. I photographed Juana at golden hour (of course!) at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Park in Cornish, NH.
This was my first photo shoot on these elegant grounds, and I’m sold on them as a new favorite location. Perhaps by way of its roots as an artist colony, it’s easy to slip into another time and place while strolling the property. The alley of birch trees, narrow passageways, tall hedges, vines, columns, and sweeping views of Mount Ascutney all serve as a marvelous backdrop for creating artful images.
We had so much fun exploring Saint-Gaudens together and chasing the fleeting evening light, waiting for the sun to emerge from behind the clouds to give us one last moment of glow.
I’m excited to see what the future holds for this lady, and hopeful for a meetup in the city one day!
