Kyrsten & Jake | Intimate Winter Wedding Ceremony | New Hampshire Wedding Photographer
Kyrsten and Jake were married at their lovely intimate winter wedding ceremony in Lebanon, New Hampshire at the end of March. Technically their ceremony fell in the spring, but the snowfall on their day sure made it feel like winter, despite the warmth and love shared by the couple and their family.
Their ceremony and reception was held in a light and bright barn at a private residence with a modern and industrial vibe. The barn’s loft was the perfect space to capture Kyrsten getting ready for the day and her beautiful bridal details. The photographs of her in her dress in this space are some of my favorite, along with sweet moments she shared with her mom, as she readied for her wedding day.
The day was full of emotion and sweet touches. I often find that some of the most personal and heartfelt wedding celebrations are those with fewer in attendance. Large celebrations are joyful and fun, and small, intimate weddings equally special with more opportunities to connect and spend time with family and friends.
On the heels of winter, we were met with the last snowfall of the season which made for a magical snow globe setting for their first look and portraits. Although storms of any nature, rain or snow, can add logistical challenges to a wedding day, they do lend moments that make the entire day unforgettable. When Jake and Kyrsten shared their first look, only a few flurries fell from the sky. An hour later, they posed for their “Just Married” portraits in a full-fledged snowstorm!
The weather is a toss up for New England weddings in March and April. You never know what the day will bring. However, inside the airy barn we were all warm and comfortable with not trace of being surrounded in snow. The couple spoke their vows in front of a birch arch decorated with pink and white gauzy draping. Candles and floral garland created a glowing atmosphere that paired nicely with the ample natural light flowing through the windows. I stayed through their first dance, parent dances, and the cutting of their gorgeous three-tier cake designed by A to Z Cakes in New London.
My best wishes and congratulations to Kyrsten and Jake. Wishing them the brightest and best along their journey.
