Bellows Falls, Vermont | Family Photography and Back To My Roots
My latest photo adventure brings me back to my roots in Bellows Falls, Vermont to capture family memories for a dear friend and her family. It’s always hard for me to answer the question of where I come from, because I haven’t lived in one place forever. I consider my hometown to be Saxtons River, Vermont, which is a small village near the larger town of Bellows Falls. I moved there in the early 90s and left after I graduated high school for a short stint in South Carolina. I have lived in the northeast predominantly, having spent time in New Jersey, Massachusetts (Nantucket!), Vermont, and my current state, New Hampshire.
Our families enjoyed the last hurrah of summer over the weekend. The kids could not resist running through the sprinklers on a warm, early fall evening on a playing field at Bellows Falls High School. This was the first time I’d been back since I graduated in 2000. Oh. My. Goodness. All the feels and memories came rushing back! Everything about these images makes me giddy. From the unadulterated joy and freedom in the kids’ spirits as they played, to the love they hold for each other. Capturing them filled my lens and my heart with happiness. ♥
